Unknown American Engine  Unique. C1890's

This small open crank engine was manufactured in the US and has been dated there as being C1890's of unknown manufacturer. There are no others like it known to exist.

There are theories as to its origin. Possibly a very early Olds or American National.

It has a uniquely simple Hit and Miss system, a Drop Forged Crank, and appears to be assembled largely with hand made square head bolts.

You will see 2 old photos showing what seem to be a father and son each by the engine which is installed and powering possibly a deep well pump.

This is a lovely little engine that runs beautifully and is as rare as it is possible to be.
