Tony's Stationary Engines
BT 1 3/4HP 1916
BT 1 3/4hp 1916
The initials on the engine hopper (BT) refers to Beatty Pump Company . Fergus, Ontario.
Beatty contracted Gilsons Manufacturing Company. Port Washington, Wisconsin. to provide engines for their pumps. Because of the small size of the engine hopper, they settled on the initials BT to represent Beatty.
The engine is an adaption of the Gilson 1 3/4hp engine of the time.
There are only 2 Gilson engines in the U.K. with BT on the hopper and all other 1 3/4hp Gilsons have conventional spark plug and coil ignition, whereas this example has a Webster magneto and igniter . Only a few with this type of ignition are known to exist.
