ABOUT ME - TONY RUDMAN

My name is Tony Rudman. Thank you for visiting my website 'Tony's Stationary Engines'

I am a director of a water treatment equipment manufacturing company based in Essex. In 2015, at the age of 60, I semi retired. Although having been involved with classic cars for many years (I still own three) and having been, albeit several years ago, the chairman of a reasonably large Classic and Kit Car club, I decided to get involved in something as interesting but different.

I had seen Stationary Engines at many shows over the years and they always held a fascination for me, so I decided that instead of returning to the classic car scene, I would try my hand with Stationary Engines.

I started collecting the usual common engines, but although fascinating to Me, I soon turned my attention to the far more interesting and collectible 'Open Crank' engines.

I was amazed at the sheer number of manufacturers and models from years gone by that are available to collectors. I have since replaced most of the original engines with the rarer, more interesting Hit and Miss engines.

The collection as it stands, I think represents a fair balance of standard closed crank petrol, open crank petrol and dual fuel, hot bulb oil and later Diesel engines. These spanning some 50 plus years from the 1890's to the 1940's, currently  standing at around 50 engines, most of which are shown here.

The main purpose of this website is to make new friends with similar interests to me.

Anyone if they wish is very welcome to visit and see the collection. Just email me and ask.

Help of course is always welcome, be that practical or advice on problems.

If the website is popular I plan to run a forum on the site to discuss individual problems etc. Also a Wanted and For Sale section. This will be free to post an advert, all I ask is that if you sell something through the site, you make a voluntary donation towards the operating costs of the site.

I do hope you find the engines interesting. All the facts and statements made have been researched from the internet, various publications and picking peoples brains. If you find something incorrect or you feel you could add to the information, especially if you recognise any of these engines and can add to their individual history, I would be delighted to hear from you.
