BLACKSTONE SPRING INJECTION DIESEL ENGINE
Blackstone Spring Injection Diesel engine.
Manufactured by Blackstone and Company, Stamford, Lincolnshire.
1923 saw the introduction to Blackstone range, of the Carter Patent Spring Injection Engine which proved such an overwhelming success that it brought about the rapid demise of their Standard Engine.
It was produced in a wide range of sizes from 6hp to 150hp in single cylinder version and up to 1250hp in multi cylinder forms.
This engine was found in pieces in an open yard near Epping Essex where it had been stored for many years. It was purchased and retrieved with the idea of it becoming a garden display, which it now is. However when it was cleaned up, it was found to be in such good condition that it was viable for restoration. This we undertook in our factory, carefully cleaning and repairing if required, each component.
Although it is a garden display, the restoration is nearly complete and we hope to have a working garden display very soon.
Unfortunately the identification plates are currently missing, although the previous owner promises to find them for me. This does make identifying and dating the engine difficult. Although there must be serial no's stamped somewhere, we haven't found them yet.
