BLACKSTONE, HOT BULB 2HP

Blackstone, Hot Bulb Engine. 2hp

Manufactured by Blackstone and Company, Stamford, Lincolnshire.

Blackstone have produced Oil Engines from 1896, when they took over production and further development of the Carter Brothers 'Reliance' oil engine at their Stamford factory.

1903 saw the introduction or a re designed vaporiser which brought about the lampless engine that only needed pre heating of the hot bulb. This became known as the 'Standard Blackstone Engine'

These engines proved very popular until 1923 which saw the introduction of the Carter Patent Spring Injection Diesel Engine, which quickly saw the demise of the Hot Bulb Engine.

This early example of the Standard Engine is 2hp and dates to c1906
